NATIONAL RECORDING ARTIST KIM BURRELL SPEAKS TO THE TEXAS COLLEGE CHOIR IN THE CHOIR ROOM BEFORE THE "BRING THE CHOIR BACK 2024" CONCERT

Shaw continued his sentiments, noting “Bringing a national artist like her provides our students an injection of confidence to perform their best. Essentially, it shows that the Texas College Choir is on a level that is good enough to perform with the likes of Kim Burrell and other national recording artists—and we are.” "With Kim Burrell joining us as a special guest, as well as her mentorship, it gives the Choir a different and elevated level of exposure," noted Shears. "With the platform that she is on, her presence alone opens a lot of doors for us and inspires us for where we can go in the future." While the Texas College Choir was undoubtedly excited to host and learn from Kim Burrell, the feeling was reciprocated by the national recording artist. “I am excited to be here at Texas College,” commented Burrell. “Pouring into the youth, the Texas College students, is vital and important.” She continued this sentiment, “HBCUs are important. And, that’s why I am happy to be here and joining alongside the Texas College Choir for an amazing concert.” During her discussion with the Texas College Choir, Burrell hinted at a few upcoming partnership opportunities between herself and the Choir. Moreover, Burrell alluded that she would be back on the Texas College campus for more exciting collaborative projects.
