VOTER REGISTRATION DAY

Texas College students register to vote at the campus’ National Voter Registration Day event.

Texas College celebrated National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 with a voter registration drive in the McKinney Hall Connector. Spearheaded by the Office of Student Affairs and Commissioner JoAnn Hampton, Smith County Precinct 4 Commissioner and Texas College Alumna, the drive was made possible through collaborative efforts with volunteers from the League of Women Voters, the Smith County Election Administration, the Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Texas College’s Panhellenic Council, as well as others. The voter registration drive successfully registered 69 Texas College students to vote.

TEXAS COLLEGE GIVES BACK

Texas College continues to incorporate the core value of community service into hands - on experiences for students. In doing so, the Texas College Men’s Basketball Team, under the auspices of Student Affairs, participated in two service initiatives for the 2022 Thanksgiving Holiday: 1. Volunteered to assist with the Houston Temple Church of God in Christ - CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Thanksgiving Ham Giveaway. 2. Distributed full Thanksgiving meals to surrounding local families within the community. The meals were delivered directly to their front doors and were derivative of Texas College’s food drive.
