STEER SOFTBALL MAKES RRAC TOURNAMENT

2024 TEXAS COLLEGE SOFTBALL TEAM

Texas College Steer Softball successfully earned their spot in the 2024 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Softball Championship Tournament. The Steers collected a few notable wins throughout the regular season, including victories over nationally ranked NCAA Division I Prairie View A&M University and nationally ranked NCAA Division I Grambling State University, as well as San Jacinto College, a powerhouse nationally ranked NJCAA Division I junior college. The softball team’s motto this year was “I belong here,” which they bought into. Evidenced by their collective hard work, Steer Softball has earned their spot and belongs in the RRAC Softball Championship Tournament. Alongside their motto, the team keeps motivated with scripture and has placed spirituality as a basis for their program. While the Steers clearly focused on honing their skills on the softball diamond, they also focused in the classroom, another emphasis of the program. With over half of the team maintaining a 3.0 or above grade point average, nine softball student-athletes received academic recognition at this year’s Honors Convocation; these students were named either Presidential Scholars, Dean’s List Scholars, or Honor Roll Scholars. The Steers finished the regular season with an overall record right at .500 (19-19) and entered the RRAC Softball Tournament as the number seven seed. The Steers would ultimately fall to LSU Alexandria and Texas A&M - San Antonio in hard-fought games. 2024’s bid to the tournament marked Texas College’s fifth appearance in the RRAC Softball Championship Tournament, with previous appearances in 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
